F. Miller

Founded on the principles of environmental and social consciousness, F. Miller is a Canadian beauty brand taking the sustainable skincare industry by storm. The founder, Fran Miller, recognized a gap in the market for natural products made from high-quality ingredients and sought to fill that gap and so, F. Miller was born.

The brand’s sustainability webpage reads, “F. Miller is guided by transparency and environmental and social consciousness. We believe it is our responsibility to prioritize ethical, sustainable practices in all areas of our business and we are continually looking for new, innovative solutions to evolve and improve on what we do.”

When F. Miller says that they prioritize the environment in all areas of their business, they mean it. From the ingredients to the manufacturing to the packaging, they take sustainability seriously.

First off, all ingredients are ethical, organic, and sourced from their native growing region in order to ensure minimal impact on the environment. In addition, all of their formulas are 100% toxin-free and biodegradable, so you also won’t find any parabens, synthetic fragrances, or phthalates.

Further, when it comes to the manufacturing process, F. Miller has an almost entirely zero-waste facility thanks to its partnership with TerraCycle’s recycling program. They also ensure that the minimum amount of water, energy, and material is used in the creation of their skincare products. They even stock their studio with biodegradable, recyclable, and eco-friendly supplies that are often made from post-consumer waste and that are sourced from local businesses.

Packaging is yet another aspect that F. Miller is environmentally mindful of. They aim to use recyclable, reusable, and biodegradable packaging made out of post-consumer waste as much as possible.

For example, all of the shopping boxes, shipping labels, packing tape, note cards, and stickers are made entirely out of post-consumer waste that is produced locally and is either recyclable or compostable. All bottles and boxes are printed locally in a renewable energy facility. Lastly, the labels on F. Miller’s glass bottles are printed by hand using vegetable-based ink and the bottle caps are made from 100% recycled plastic. In fact, all of F. Miller’s labels are printed using plant-based ink.

Finally, F. Miller is excited to announce that they are in the midst of launching a refill and subscription program in order to reduce waste. In the meantime, they encourage consumers to reuse or repurpose the glass bottles and paper bags that their products are packaged in. They also offer to send consumers looking for any of their products in a larger size to get in touch as they can send volume options for you to refill your bottles with.

For those new to the F. Miller brand, their skincare collection includes products for the face, such as their Cleansing Oil and Toning Mist and products for the body and hair, like their Hair Oil or Shave Oil. They also have different pre-made skincare kits available to consumers.

If you’ve never shopped at F. Miller before, be sure to check out their bestsellers: Face Oil made with certified organic jojoba and argan oil, and their Body Oil which contains certified organic sunflower seed oil and marula oil.
