Founded in 2010 by Michael Preysman and Jesse Farmer, Everlane is a clothing company that begins its story with a cotton T-shirt.

Committed to a transparent and environmentally responsible supply chain, the materials used in Everlane’s pieces are selected upon the basis of sustainability. However, the cotton used by the clothing company over the last decade has not been organic.

“Worldwide, cotton farming uses more toxic pesticides per acre than any other crop. Those chemicals are stripping the land of nutrients, contaminating our water, and endangering the people who grow the cotton,” explained Everlane. “We knew we had to do better.”

Seeking to amend its mistake and create a more eco-friendly future, Everlane has announced the pledge of transitioning all its cotton to certified organic by the year 2023.

To achieve this commitment, GOTS certified organic cotton will be sourced from the Madhya Pradesh region of India. Grown using crop rotation, cover crops and organic fertilizers, the entire farming process is pesticide-free.

Follwing up the pledge is the release of an organic cotton T-shirt on March 24. Price is set at $18.
