Based in Vancouver and Mexico City, Decimal is a company that embraces and integrates design with technology to create 3D printed light fixtures.

Described as “ingenious, unique, and forward-thinking”, the light fixtures are created by combining 3D printed shades that are designed by various designers located throughout the world with LED modules capable of lasting up to 70,000 hours.

“Decimal light fixtures feature unique forms made possible through additive manufacturing, and are customizable to a variety of attractive colors and finishings,” said Decimal in a statement. “All Decimal shades are designed by tech-savvy designers across the globe, making Decimal a collaborative platform with the goal of pushing the boundaries of lighting. Decimal’s product line is intended for people across the globe who are passionate about design and technology.”

“Lighting hasn’t changed much since the lightbulb was invented in 1879,” said Decimal. “No matter the technology, the concept stayed the same: a bulb and a socket. Decimal is shifting away from this paradigm by grounding its products on the idea of a single high-quality light source. The Decimal LED module is an optimally engineered component that provides designers and consumers with long-lasting high-performance light fixtures, while delivering beautiful light.”

“We are living the most exciting times in lighting since the light bulb,” added Decimal. “On one hand, LED technology opens endless design possibilities by detaching from traditional light sources. On the other, additive manufacturing opens the door to unique and previously impossible shapes and forms.”
