With the goal of re-thinking bedlinen into “something that fits modern-day society”, Denmark-based company Dawn Designs is creating bedlinen that is made from 100% organic cotton.
Called Dawn Nights, the bedlinen is made to stay fresh for longs periods of time without the need of having to wash it often. Treated with Polygiene using a low concentration of recycled silver chloride, the Polygiene is able to effectively reduce odour-causing bacteria.
“Our bed linen reduces the bacteria that cause odor and eventually damages your skin and health, making your bed linen stay fresh for longer,” stated Dawn Designs. “By keeping your bed linen bacteria free you do not have to wash it that often and therefore save the planet, by using less water resources.”
Stonewashing and percale weaving the bedlinen with a thread count of 200, the fabric is described by Dawn Design as being soft, light and breathable with a crisp and lively look.
With the design inspired by Nordic minimalism, there are two colour variations of “a broken white and a blue inspired by the coastline around Denmark” that is available.
The bedlinen is produced in Guimaraes, Portugal, where Dawn Designs states it is the ideal place to create textiles in “a sustainable and fair way”.
“Guimaraes is a mekka for textile production and is famous for its incredible knowledge in producing the best fabrics,” said Dawn Designs. “By combining our ideas and their knowledge we create products that are functional and of high-quality! It is important that the factories we use have a sustainable mindset, and that they treat their workers like human beings.”
