Known for repurposing 90’s Prada backpacks into bomber jackets and creating luxurious statement coats from Louis Vuitton scarves, London-based bespoke label clothsurgeon has released the latest installment of its “RECONSTRUCTED PROJECT”: a jacket and vest capsule crafted from Nike sweatpant waistbands.

The pieces are both created by clothsurgeon’s founder and creative director Rav Matharu in East London. Matharu utilized leftover waistbands from over fifty pairs of Nike Fundamental Sweat Pants, that were previously used for other projects, to minimize waste.

Taking reconstruction to the next level, the fully functional oversized boxy collared jacket is embellished with RiRi zipper detailing, side pockets, and a chest pocket to easily store your essentials. Final details include the Swoosh insignia spotlighted on the chest pocket and Nike branded tags.

The utility-style vest is fitted with a zipped chest pocket and also features loose waistband drawstrings. Both pieces sport a colour palette of navy blue, white, and black.

For each look, Matharu’s precision, tailoring, and attention to detail is spotlighted throughout these timeless yet contemporary silhouettes. Not only are both of the repurposed one-of-one garments eco-friendly, but they are also fashion-forward and can easily be incorporated into your everyday wear due to their sports-luxe tailored aesthetic.
