Clothing brand AEANCE has created a new collection of clothing made with 96% recycled, natural, biodegradable and bio-based materials.
Designed in collaboration with industrial designer Konstantin Grcic, the collection consists of coats, jackets, blazers, trousers and skirts.
“It marks an evolution from our signature performance apparel, into technical yet tailored ready-to-wear,” said AEANCE. “When conceiving Collection 03, the Grcic applied the processes behind industrial design to fashion, creating pieces, which were simplified to their fundamental proportions.”
“We simplified the styles again and again to get to the root of the pieces. They’re not about loud statements, they’re more quietly convincing,” said Grcic. “I’m really interested in the idea of clothing evolving from sportswear, with a performance aspect that is practical, efficient and economical.”
Described as being lightweight, breathable and comfortable, the pieces are conceived in a colour palette of black, blue, grey, red and mauve.
With the brazer and jackets constructd using ZQ Merino-certified New Zealand Merino wool and Japanese stretch fabric made from recycled nylon, the coats are made with a breathable and waterproof 3-layer fabric made from recycled plastic bottle.
The skirts are made with a biodegradable nylon fabric said to be able to decompose in 5 years and the trousers are created using fibres sourced from beech wood.
“I was amazed that within the textile industry there are such high-quality performance fabrics made using ecological resources,” said Grcic. “The use of sustainable materials is rare in my industry. Working with these fabrics gave me a new sense of quality and understanding about the specificity of materials. The fabrics in the collection are amazing in terms of touch, weight, drape and stretch.”
The jackets, tailored coats and blazers are also fitted with a patented fabric that protects from electromagnet fields and radiation emitted from mobile phones.
