Designed with minimalist and simplistic facilities, the idea and philosophy of a capsule hotel is to offer guests the bare essentials of what qualifies as a hotel stay.

With the concept of providing a space that enables 1 hour for showing, 7 hours of sleeping, and 1 hour for rest, ninehours offers a “simple urban stay unlike any other in the world.”
Though the architecture and the layout of the capsule hotels differ depending on location, ninehours states that each branch offers the same consistent service and facility. According to ninehours, there are currently 55 branches located throughout Japan.
With a sleeping pod measuring 220 cm in length, 110 cm in width and 110 cm in height, each pod is equipped with a USB charging panel, air conditioning and heating, light-based alarm clock, pillow and a bed sheet that is washed after every use.
With guests able to check in at any hour of the day, 365 days of the year, booking a night at ninehours’ capsule hotel costs 4,900 JPY. There is also the option of booking a sleeping pod for quick naps, costing 1,000 JPY for the first hour and 300 JPY per additional hour.
The hotel also provides free WI-FI, luggage storage and bathroom amenities such as bath towels, face towels, loungewear, toothbrushes and more. Shampoo, conditioner, and soap are provided in each shower unit.
