In collaboration with furniture brand Allermuir, design agency LAYER has created a seating collection called AXYL.

Designed to offer an “efficient method of re-using waste product from the furniture industry”, the AXYL collection composed of a chair and stool feature an inverted Y-frame made from recycled die-cast aluminum.

Customers will have the ability to select eight recyclable plastic finishes for the chair’s injection molded shell and stool seat. There is also the option for fitting a seat pad that is made from recycled foam.

“LAYER helped us to deliver a complex, high quality product from start to finish that successfully brought together a robust set of functional features, highly sculptural forms and sustainable credentials with superb attention to detail,” said Allermuir design director Matt Ousby.
