Following their inaugural collaboration in October 2020, Danish designer Cecilie Bahnsen and British luxury label Mackintosh are once again teaming up, this time for a seasonal Spring/Summer 2021 range.

For the upcoming season, the duo focuses on sculptural dresses, tailored outwear essentials, elongated vests, hooded raincoats, and eye-catching coat-and-dress hybrids, which have all been created and reworked from old archive fabrics and sustainable upcycling methods. Materials and fabrics spotlighted in the collaborative collection include water-repellent bonded cotton, ecru cotton, 3D matelassé, and opaque trims.

Elevating the designs are meticulous patchwork quilting, romantic floral cut details at the collars and hems, and technical drawstrings at the waist. Some of the pieces even come with sleeveless options, making them perfect for the transitional weather ahead.

Throughout the looks, Bahnsen and Mackintosh manage to find the perfect balance between utilitarian aesthetics and sophisticated silhouettes, all while keeping Bahnsen’s signature design ethos intact. Tying all the looks together is a monochrome palette of demure whites and creams and luxurious black.

On the collaboration, Bahnsen shared, “This season we didn’t have a mood board or a theme. The design and the fabric techniques came from inside me, spontaneous and honest. I was pregnant, it was lockdown, a very challenging and unique time. But it focused me to think about the now, the here, what we do as a brand, how we work.”

The Cecilie Bahnsen x MACKINTOSH Spring/Summer 2021 collection is currently available online. Prices range from €1,890 to €2,995 EUR (approximately $2,818 to $4,467 CAD).
