An environmentally conscious company called Brush with Bamboo produces organic bamboo handle toothbrushes with caster bean-based bristles.

According to Brush with Bamboo, over 4.7 billion plastic toothbrushes are dumped in landfills and oceans every year worldwide. Brush with Bamboo’s intent is to “replace plastic toothbrushes with the ecological bamboo alternative”.

The organic handle is made from Moso bamboo sourced from China. The bamboo grows without the use of pesticides or fertilizers and receives only natural mountain rain.

The bristle is composed of 62% castor bean oil and 38% nylon. The brush’s 100% compostable packaging is made from paper and doesn’t contain any tape or glue.

Brush with Bamboo also creates a variety of other BPA-free, vegan, non-GMO, gluten-free and non-toxic products such as toothbrush holders, travel cases and loofah scrubbers.
