Brooks Running, a renowned global performance running footwear and apparel company, has taken a significant stride towards enhancing its sustainability efforts by forging a strategic partnership with TrusTrace, a leading SaaS company with a market-leading platform for supply chain traceability and compliance.

This collaboration aims to bolster Brooks Running’s commitment to responsible sourcing, transparency, and reducing its environmental impact. By leveraging TrusTrace’s cutting-edge platform, Brooks Running seeks to deepen visibility across its manufacturing supply chain, identify potential risks, and achieve its ambitious sustainability targets.

Brooks’ Sustainability Initiatives

Brooks Running has long been recognized for its dedication to sustainability and responsible business practices. In recent years, the company has made commendable progress in various environmental and social initiatives. These initiatives include sourcing sustainable materials, reducing waste, promoting fair labour practices, and supporting community development. By partnering with TrusTrace, Brooks takes a momentous step towards strengthening these efforts.

TrusTrace’s Supply Chain Traceability Platform

TrusTrace’s platform provides real-time traceability data as materials and finished goods traverse through the supply chain. With an emphasis on verified data, the platform empowers brands to gain granular insights into the production processes, sourcing locations, and potential compliance risks. This level of transparency is invaluable for companies like Brooks Running, as it aligns perfectly with their mission to trace their supply chain in detail and promote responsible sourcing.

Enhanced Visibility and Mitigation of Risks

One of the primary objectives of the partnership is to deepen visibility across Brooks’ manufacturing supply chain. The platform allows Brooks to collect detailed data on where and how their products are produced, enabling them to identify and mitigate responsible sourcing and business continuity risks. By closely monitoring Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 factories through TrusTrace, Brooks can ensure adherence to their Supplier Code of Conduct, which emphasizes respecting human rights, promoting fair labour practices, and reducing environmental impact.

Sustainability Targets and Net-Zero Emissions

As part of its long-term sustainability vision, Brooks Running has set ambitious targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. These targets include reducing absolute scope 1 & 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030 and 90% by 2040, compared to a 2021 baseline. Additionally, they aim to reduce scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions per unit of production by 52% by 2030 and 97% by 2040. Ultimately, Brooks endeavours to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across its entire value chain by 2040.

TrusTrace’s Role in Achieving Sustainability Goals

The TrusTrace platform plays a pivotal role in supporting Brooks Running’s journey toward achieving its sustainability objectives. By providing real-time data on greenhouse gas emissions and energy usage, TrusTrace empowers Brooks to measure and manage its carbon footprint accurately. This data-driven approach enables the company to identify areas for improvement, optimize its supply chain, and make informed decisions to achieve net-zero emissions by 2040.

“We are excited to partner with Brooks to support them on their journey towards achieving transparency and their responsible sourcing objectives,” says  TrusTrace CEO and Co-Founder Shameek Ghosh. “Through gathering granular data on where and how their products are produced, Brooks will be able to identify and work to improve the social and environmental impact of their supply chain, as well as comply with complex regulations.”

“Visibility into the factories that manufacture Brooks products, materials and raw materials is critical to ensure our responsible sourcing standards outlined in our Supplier Code of Conduct are upheld,” explains Dave Kemp, Director of Corporate Responsibility at Brooks. “The expansive and complex nature of our manufacturing supply chain makes this visibility difficult. TrusTrace enables us to identify and mitigate responsible sourcing and business continuity risks and increase due diligence for customs compliance.”
