Google has announced a new feature for Search that will enable users to view and interact with 3D objects in augmented reality (AR).

Scheduled to be rolled out later this month, the AR feature will appear in Google’s Knowledge Panel.

Partners such as NASA, New Balance, Samsung, Target, Volvo, and more have been working with Google to add their own 3D models into Search.

“It’s one thing to read that a great white shark can be 18 feet long. It’s another to see it up close in relation to the things around you,” said Aparna Chennapragada, VP, Google Lens and AR. “Sometimes, the easiest way to wrap your head around new information is to see it.”
