Montreal-based fashion label Atelier New Regime recently launched a new project called “Zero Waste Initiative.”
As part of their new initiative, which seeks to make the fashion industry more sustainable by reducing waste, the label created a capsule collection of bags made out of repurposed items from their previous collections. All repurposed items were either deemed defective or served as samples in Atelier New Regime’s past collections.
To bring their first zero-waste collection to life, Atelier New Regime partnered with Worldwide Manufacture. Together, they gave a second life to deadstock items in an attempt to develop a more circular product cycle.
The Zero Waste Initiative collection is composed of five different bags, a down puffer tote, an oversized cabas tote, a travel bag, and two different styles of cross body bags. All styles are unisex.
Atelier New Regime’s Tactical Cross Body Bags was previously a pair of nylon pants, while the Down Puffer Tote was made from puffer scarves. The Worldwide Travel Bag was made from old puffer jackets, and the Oversized Cabas came to life by way of upcycled webbed nylon belts.
Further, the entire collection was manufactured locally at Worldwide Manufacture’s facilities in Montreal.
In line with the overall goal of reducing waste, the capsule collection is only being released in limited quantities. The entire collection is available now on Atelier New Regime’s website. Items range from $110 CAD to $250 CAD.
