For those in the Eastern Hemisphere, the last solar eclipse of the decade was visible on Christmas day 2019.

To be exact, an annular solar eclipse occured. Unlike a total solar eclipse where the Moon completely covers the Sun, the outer edges of the star’s disk are left visible during an annular solar eclipse, creating what is often described as a “ring of fire”.

The precise time for when the annular solar eclipse began is 10:34 p.m. EST (3:34 a.m UTC) in Saudi Arabia. The “ring of fire” waz also visible Bahrain, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, India, Sri Lanka, Sumatra, Singapore, Borneo, the Philippines and Guam.
