Located in a central business district, Aesop Sydney on Pitt Street embodies the calm and relaxing elements of coastal escarpments.

The store is designed by architecture and design practice Snøhetta. “Aesop Pitt Street is a result of the spirit of Sydney infused in the ambience and mission of Aesop, which includes creating honest products to be sold in shops which reflect the context of their locations, communities and environments,” said Snøhetta.

“The design process began with understanding the relationships between the spirit of the coast and waterfront at Bondi Beach, and the vibrancy of the central business district,” explained Snøhetta.

“Aesop’s Pitt Street store celebrates the company’s passage to fruition over the last three decades, and will be a guiding light in the next stage of its voyage,” said Aesop.

Clad with sandstone and granite, the façade encourages passerby shoppers to adopt a more relaxed state of being so that the colours and textures can be appreciated.

The entrance itself is pulled back from the street. In doing so, it allows customers to decompress and seamlessly transition into the store.

In reverence of Christo and Jeanne-Claude’s Wrapped Coast, a granite structure wraps the interior of the sandstone building.

In addition to rows of metal sinks where customers can test Aesop’s products, there are three standalone sinks with mirrors for a more private setting.
