Located in Brooklyn, New York City, Aesop Park Slope is a store designed by Mexican architect Frida Escobedo.
Noted as being the third Aesop location in Brooklyn, the store features extensive use of handcrafted bricks made from Oaxacan earth.
“Created in a workshop near Escobedo’s studio in Mexico City, the bricks draw connections and contrasts between the architect’s home city and the store’s site,” said Aesop.
Upon entering the store, visitors are lead to an open space with Escobedo’s bricks “weft in brownstone formation” alongside shelves and two powder-coated metal troughs.
“The neighbourhood’s mid-nineteenth century brownstone residences, with their repeating, angled facades, and intricate brickwork, inspired the design,” explained Aesop.
“Alcoves and corners emerge as areas of inhabitation and display; the negative space behind the walls becomes a place of repose for staff. In this way, the space’s choreography simulates the meandering experience of walking through the neighbourhood,” added Aesop.
At the store, clients are able to receive advice from consultants and select from a collection of skin, hair and body care products.
