As part of the label’s plans to eliminate virgin plastic entirely by 2024, adidas has released its new eco-friendly Stan Smith PRIMEGREEN silhouette crafted out of high-performance recycled materials.

Just like its inherent name suggests, this Stan Smith PRIMEGREEN variant is constructed out of Primegreen, a sustainable material that does not contain any virgin plastic. Foregoing its leather construction, adidas uses recycled polyester, while a premium PU coating sourced from Japan helps to mimic the sneaker’s original leather feeling.

In terms of design, the tennis-turned-lifestyle sneaker boasts a playful outfit on its smooth white “leather” construction. Hand-drawn-like doodle graphics paying homage to Mother Earth, such as colourful flowers, rain droplets, a globe, and adidas’ signature Trefoil insignia, are emblazoned from the forefoot to the heel. Elevating the overall look are contrasting hits of classic green dressing the Stan Smith’s quintessential green heel tab and tongue tab, along with the PRIMEGREEN motif stamped onto the insoles.

Rounding out the final eco-friendly design touches is a recycled rubber midsole and outsole combo and a lacing system crafted from recycled fabric.

To bring the sustainability focus full circle, the pair comes packaged in a classic adidas Originals box composed of more than 90% recycled paper.

The adidas Stan Smith PRIMEGREEN is available now at select adidas stockists. The pair retails for $116 USD/$148 CAD.
