Following the introduction of its “Repurposed” series and releasing an FW20 lineup comprised of puffer jackets crafted with recycled down, Swedish fashion house Acne Studios returns with a new seasonal range for Spring/Summer 2021 that once again champions sustainable and responsible materials.
The label’s new SS21 range highlights its ever-popular “Face” motif, which has been reworked and reinvented in a playful way for the upcoming season. The lauded insignia is spotlighted on leather patches, holographic prints, and an enamel metal plaque.
Acne Studios’s range of elevated, unisex essentials includes workwear-indebted outerwear, such as coach jackets and anoraks, along with a range of T-shirts, crewnecks, hoodies, knitwear, cardigans, button-up shirts, trousers, shorts, and track pants. A range of minimalist accessories is also available such as beanies, baseball caps, bucket hats, bags, socks, and scarves.
Elsewhere, the collection’s footwear offering includes two silhouettes, the Bibila high-top sneaker and the Bennie chunky slip-on sneaker. Some of the standout items include the cozy sports and athleisure-influenced pieces, which are perfect to lounge around in while most continue to work from home.
Core colour palettes highlighted in the range include neutral tones of black, light grey, white, and khaki, while those looking for more eye-catching accents can opt for the newly added seasonal shades of “Blush Pink,” “Teal,” “Spearmint Green,” “Deep Red,” “Carrot Orange,” “Electric Purple,” “Neon Green,” “Neon Pink,” and “Neon Blue.” Striped and checkered plaid pieces are also up for offer for an energized look. Overall, this collection boasts a healthy mix for both the minimalist and maximalists out there.
As a continued effort to push towards more sustainable means, the majority of the apparel items in Acne Studios’ SS21 collection are either crafted from organic cotton, Responsible Wool Standard-certified sustainable yarns, or other recycled materials. The knitted jumpers and hats are made from responsible wool, while organic cotton is used primarily in T-shirts, jerseys, and fleece garments. Finally, recycled materials are mostly utilized in the collection of scarves.
