In a creative twist for road safety, a 3D optical illusion pedestrian crossing has been painted in the town of  Ísafjörður, Iceland. Environmental Commissioner of Iceland Ralf Trylla had initially proposed the idea after being inspired by a similar optical illusion crosswalk that was introduced in New Delhi, India.

Partnering with painting company Vegmálun GÍH, a crosswalk made up of 3D stripes was created to give oncoming drivers the impression that the crosswalk was floating in the air, thus raising more focus and attention on the road ahead.
